Master surface cleaning

MBX® Technology

Removes rust, paint, underseal and sealants from bodywork, cars, trucks, trains and more, without damaging the panel beneath. Designed for applications where selective material removal, surface integrity, and control are critical, cutting labor by more than 60% versus traditional methods.

Controlled integrity

Prepares the surface, without compromising it.

Traditional methods overheat, smear, or eat into the substrate. MBX® is engineered to clean and prepare while leaving the base material intact.

No overheating

Maintains surface integrity where grinding and high-speed methods would burn or warp.

No smearing

Prevents the smearing and burnishing common with high-speed grinding discs.

Preserves base material

Cleans without removing excessive base material or altering the substrate.

Consistent results

Eliminates the inconsistency of manual sanding and aggressive grinding.

Grit-free, by design. No loose abrasive, no spent media, no secondary contamination, safer for the people doing the work, and better for the environment around it. Closing Cycles →

The MBX® difference
Technical precision

Controlled impact. Immediate retraction.

MBX® systems use dynamically controlled belts and tools that allow precise surface interaction, the same retraction principle as the Bristle Blaster®, tuned for delicate automotive substrates.

  • Controlled impact, precise interaction through dynamically controlled belts and contact pressure
  • Immediate retraction, tips retract after contact, preventing gouging or deep cutting
  • Uniform finish, reliable, even surface finish across the whole work area
  • Substrate integrity, preserves the original substrate while ensuring coating readiness
By application

Where precision is non-negotiable

MBX® supports selective surface-preparation tasks across metalworking, OEM production, maintenance and refurbishment, cleaning, stripping, or preparing for bonding.

Cleaning prior to coating

Prepare metal surfaces to a clean, coating-ready state without altering the substrate.

Light corrosion & residues

Remove light corrosion, oxidation, or residues without aggressive grinding.

Stripping coatings & foils

Strip coatings, foils, stickers and adhesives cleanly from the surface.

Preparing for bonding

Create the right surface condition for bonding, coating, or rework.

The MONTI color-coding system

The right belt for the job

Introduced by founder Werner Montabaur, the MBX® belt range is categorized by color for the application. That system is still in use today. Every grade is available in straight and bent-knee formats, in carbon steel and stainless steel.

Certified to EN 1083-2:2024The European safety standard for mechanically-driven wire brushes.

Cordless Alliance System

One battery. Every cordless tool.

Go cordless with MontiPower and a single CAS 18 V battery powers your whole kit — Bristle Blaster®, MBX® and Vinyl Zapper® all run the same pack. One charger, one battery inventory, no downtime swapping systems between tools.

CAS is the cross-manufacturer platform built on Metabo’s LiHD technology — so your existing CAS batteries from 45+ professional brands fit too. No proprietary lock-in, unlike Makita LXT or DeWalt 20V MAX.
