Grit-free performance

The power of blasting. None of the fallout.

Preparation is the foundation of coating performance. Bristle Blasting puts that foundation under your control: consistent surface preparation, predictable anchoring surface profiles, and confidence before every coating application.

Aggressive removal

Removes heavy corrosion, mill scale and coatings, with results comparable to abrasive blasting.

Standard cleanliness

comparable to abrasive blasting: a verified, coating-ready standard.

Minimal containment

No abrasive media means minimal dust, no loose particles and no costly enclosure to build.

Self-cleaning belts

Air-cooled bristle belts operate without smearing, burnishing or heat, preserving a clean profile.

Grit-free, by design. No loose abrasive, no spent media, no secondary contamination, safer for the people doing the work, and better for the environment around it. Closing Cycles →

Impact & retraction

The patented mechanism

The secret lies in the patented accelerator bar and the dynamic interaction of the bristle tips with the surface, striking with abrasive-grade kinetic energy, then retracting instantly.

01

Impact

Bristle tips strike the surface with high kinetic energy, comparable to abrasive impact.

02

Accelerator bar

The patented bar increases tip impact force for maximum removal efficiency.

03

Retraction

Tips retract immediately, creating the anchor profile, no smearing or heat.

04

Coating-ready

A clean, profiled, grit-free substrate ready for the protective coating system.

Certified for explosive atmospheres

When the air is hazardous, the spark risk is the spec.

The Bristle Blaster® Pneumatic Ultimate has undergone an independent ignition-hazard analysis and ATEX 2014/34/EU conformity evaluation, so it can be specified for live oil & gas, refinery and petrochemical work where electric tools are not permitted.

Common questions

Bristle Blaster® FAQ

What results does the Bristle Blaster® deliver?
It removes corrosion and coatings while simultaneously generating an anchor profile, achieving a surface cleanliness comparable to abrasive blasting, with a controllable 65–85 µm Rz (2.6–3.3 mil) profile measured by replica tape (ASTM D4417-C), a coating-ready substrate in a single operation.
How does it compare to power-tool cleaning (St 3)?
Conventional power-tool cleaning, grinders, needle guns, wire brushes, tops out at St 3 under ISO 8501-2, which is why it's excluded from demanding coating specifications. Bristle blasting is the exception: it reaches a cleanliness and anchor profile comparable to abrasive blasting, so it can be specified where St 3 won't pass.
What is the working speed?
Working speed depends on steel grade, rust grade and surface condition. As a guide, around 1.1 m² per hour on flash-rusted surfaces; the Electric Double reaches roughly 3 m²/hr on flat surfaces. A specialist can estimate throughput for your specific project.
How long does a belt, accelerator bar and adaptor last?
Belt service life averages around one hour of working time, roughly 1–1.5 m² of surface, and up to 3 m² on lighter applications such as plain weld seams. Consumable life varies with material and surface condition. Registered customers can reorder belts directly through the portal.
Is it certified for explosive (ATEX) zones?
ATEX certifiedYes. The Bristle Blaster® Pneumatic Ultimate has undergone an independent ignition-hazard analysis and ATEX 2014/34/EU conformity evaluation as Category 2 equipment: zone 1 explosive gas (group IIA, EPL Gb) and zone 21 explosive dust (IIIC, EPL Db), assessed to EN ISO 80079-36, EN ISO 80079-37 and IEC 60079-0. It is fully pneumatic with no electrical components, so surface prep can continue in oil & gas, refinery and petrochemical environments where electric tools cannot be used. In independent Gexcon testing it passed electrostatic brush-discharge testing for gas groups IIA, IIB and IIC, kept its ignition safety through repeated drop tests (ambient and frozen), and produced no ignition when operated inside live propane (group IIA) gas clouds. It is not classified for group IIC gases such as acetylene or hydrogen.
Where can I buy a Bristle Blaster®?
The Bristle Blaster® range is sold through MontiPower's global distributor network so you get local support, training and stock. Find your local distributor → or talk to a specialist who'll connect you with your regional partner.
What's the difference between the Bristle Blaster® and the MBX®?
Both use the same patented retraction principle. The Bristle Blaster® is built for heavy industrial corrosion removal and anchor-profile generation; the MBX® is tuned for automotive bodywork, removing rust, paint and underseal while preserving the panel.

Vibration & noise, documented to ISO 5349-2

Offshore contractors and asset owners ask for independent proof before they qualify a tool. This is it: an independent hand-arm vibration and noise assessment, measured to NS-EN ISO 5349-2 under simulated field conditions, so operator exposure can be planned with confidence.

Independent assessment by Brekke & Strand Akustikk AS (report AKU-01, 2026) to NS-EN ISO 5349-2. Values are trigger-time levels including measurement uncertainty; daily-use guidance follows the vibration action/limit bands and assumes hearing protection. Confirm exposure for your own work using the report and an ISO 5349-2 calculator. This is a vibration & noise assessment, not an ATEX certification.
