Grit-Free Surface Preparation Below the Waterline
Engineered for underwater environments, diving operations, and offshore maintenance, delivering controlled surface conditioning even in demanding subsea conditions.
Below the surface
When corrosion protection needs to extend below the surface of the sea, precision, safety, and reliability become even more critical.
“Grit-free preparation, controlled even below the waterline.”
Water pressure
Managing buoyancy and pressure effects at depth.
Limited visibility
Operating in murky or restricted subsea environments.
Environmental risk
Preventing contamination in sensitive marine ecosystems.
Operational constraints
Meeting strict diving campaign and ROV requirements.
Hydraulic power, underwater integrity
The Bristle Blaster® Subsea is a hydraulic underwater device with a unique water drive. Connected via a single, neutrally buoyant high-pressure hose, it creates a controlled, inspectable surface profile below the waterline, without grit or containment. Topside, the same principle runs on the Bristle Blaster® range.

Trusted on projects worldwide
The water-driven Bristle Blaster® enables hydraulic underwater surface preparation where conventional blasting cannot reach.
Surface preparation, underwater
The water-driven Bristle Blaster® prepares submerged steel where conventional blasting can't reach.

Spark-free surface prep for subsea and splash-zone hot-work zones.
The Bristle Blaster® Pneumatic Ultimate has undergone an independent Gexcon ignition-hazard analysis and ATEX 2014/34/EU conformity evaluation, so coating repair can continue in hazardous offshore areas without electric-tool hot-work permits.
Category 2, zone 1 gas & zone 21 dust
Bristle Blaster® Pneumatic Ultimate
Brush-discharge testing recorded no measurable discharge — passed for gas groups IIA, IIB and IIC.
Eight drops in ambient and frozen condition — no damage that reduces the tool’s ignition safety.
Operated inside explosive propane-air atmospheres (group IIA) with no ignition observed.
Markings shown reflect the scope of the independent ATEX conformity evaluation. Confirm the certified marking on the tool nameplate and Declaration of Conformity for your specific configuration before specifying.
IMCA, DNV & ISO aligned
MontiPower subsea tools are configured in accordance with offshore safety standards and industry diving protocols. IMCA-compliant, built to DNV offshore requirements, and compliant with relevant ISO standards.
