How to Remove Rust from a Metal Pipe
Rusted pipework is one of the most common surface preparation jobs in maintenance, and one of the most awkward for abrasive blasting: curved surfaces, live plant nearby, and containment requirements that dwarf the actual scope.
What does the pipe need before coating?
Two things: cleanliness (rust and old coating removed to a specified grade) and an anchor profile the new coating can grip. The Bristle Blaster produces both in one pass, reaching a cleanliness comparable to ISO 8501-1 Sa2 ½ & Sa3 with a 65-85 µm Rz profile, belt-selectable.
How is it done on a curved surface?
The tool is worked along the pipe in overlapping passes; the bristle tips follow the curvature. No blast pot, no enclosure, one operator. The video shows the full sequence on a corroded pipe.
