What does the paper cover?
The paper describes the working principle of the rotary bristle tool: how bristle tip geometry, rotational speed and contact dynamics produce crater-like impressions comparable to those left by grit blasting, and how this differs from grinding or wire brushing, which tend to smear or polish the surface rather than profile it.
How does bristle blasting differ from abrasive blasting?
Abrasive blasting propels loose media against the surface and requires containment, media recovery and disposal. Bristle blasting achieves a comparable visual cleanliness (comparable to ISO 8501-1 Sa2 ½ & Sa3, depending on belt and technique) with a hand-held tool, no loose abrasive and minimal containment.
