Bristle Blaster® + Tercoo®: The 2-in-1 Surface Preparation System

October 23, 2026By MontiPower2 min read

Most maintenance jobs are not one problem but two. First the old coating, scale or layered rust has to come off. Then the steel needs a clean surface and an anchor profile for the new coating. A grinder or cup brush does neither well: it removes some material and polishes what is left. A needle scaler removes, but slowly, and leaves no usable profile.

How the 2-in-1 system works

Step Tool What it does
1. Remove Tercoo® disc set Takes off thick paint, epoxy, bitumen, scale and heavy rust with tungsten-carbide pins.
2. Profile Bristle Blaster® belt Cleans to a blast-comparable finish and creates the anchor profile the coating needs.

Both steps run on the same drive unit. Changing from the Tercoo® discs to the Bristle Blaster® belt takes seconds, so one operator with one tool covers the whole job. For the full method, standards and verification, see The Two-Step MontiPower Method.

What our partners say

At the first MontiPower APAC Regional Meeting in Kuala Lumpur (October 2026), three partners pointed to the same combination:

  • SEPCO, Philippines: with Tercoo® added to the Bristle Blaster® as a 2-in-1 system, they see no real competition from traditional power tools. Their growth products are the Bristle Blaster® Electric Double and the Tercoo® 8-disc set.
  • MontiPower Malaysia: Tercoo® is three to four times faster than a needle scaler in their field experience, and the 2-in-1 process combines removal and profiling.
  • Flakecoat Technology, Singapore: as a coating applicator, customers value a cleaned surface with no heat generated and a profile of at least 70 µm.

The partners also asked for a single training video showing the 2-in-1 application and the changeover. It is being prepared.

Where it fits

  • Spot repairs and patch repairs of coatings and linings
  • Weld seams and heavy corrosion on plant, piping and ship structures
  • Offshore and marine maintenance where blasting is impractical
  • Any job where a grinder, cup brush or needle scaler is the current default

Why it matters

Doing the job in two clean steps with one tool is prevention rather than cure: the new coating gets the surface it needs, so it lasts and the repair is not repeated. It replaces the most tiring tools in maintenance, the needle scaler and the grinder, with less vibration and no grit in the air (People). It produces no spent abrasive to collect and dispose of, which closes the cycle on the job site (Planet). And it gives every maintenance crew blast-comparable results without a blast set-up (Power).
