Bristle blasting is a grit-free surface preparation method that uses a rotating bristle belt to remove corrosion and generate an anchor profile in a single pass, achieving a cleanliness comparable to ISO 8501-1 Sa 2½ and a profile 65–85 µm Rz (2.6–3.3 mil), without abrasive media or containment.

How bristle blasting works
A bristle blasting tool drives a belt of specially engineered steel bristles at high speed. The bristle tips are dynamically tuned so that, on contact, they strike the surface and immediately retract, a cold-working action that removes corrosion and old coating while simultaneously creating the anchor profile a new coating needs to adhere.
Crucially, this happens without loose abrasive. There's no grit to contain, recover, or dispose of, and no blast media embedding itself in the substrate. The result is a clean, profiled, coating-ready surface produced by the tool alone.
