What surfaces do conventional tools actually produce?
The paper examines the known failure modes of conventional power-tool preparation: grinding and sanding tend to polish and smear the surface, wire brushing burnishes it, and needle guns can hammer contamination into the substrate. Each can look clean while leaving a poor foundation for coating adhesion.
How does the Bristle Blaster compare?

When does this matter most?
Wherever a coating specification demands both a cleanliness grade and a minimum profile, and blasting is not an option: in-service repair, confined spaces, and small or complex areas where mobilizing abrasive blasting is disproportionate.
