In brief: MontiPower® Australia won the award for ‘Best Exhibition Booth’ at the Corrosion & Prevention 2019 conference, organised by the Australasian Corrosion Association in Melbourne on 24–27 November 2019. It was the team’s 12th exhibition at the conference and one of its most successful, with strong interest in MontiPower’s grit-free surface preparation technology.
Great news from Australia: MontiPower® Australia has won the award for ‘Best Exhibition Booth’ at the Corrosion & Prevention Conference — a testament to the new MontiPower® branding. Below: what happened, what the conference is, and the technology visitors came to see.
Best Exhibition Booth at Corrosion & Prevention 2019
This was MontiPower® Australia’s 12th exhibition at the Corrosion & Prevention Conference and certainly one of the more successful. Apart from winning the award, there was a lot of interest in our technology.
Congratulations to Phil Chester and the Australian team, and thank you for your great job!

About the Corrosion & Prevention conference
Corrosion & Prevention (C&P) is the annual conference and exhibition of the Australasian Corrosion Association (ACA), bringing together corrosion engineers, coating specifiers, inspectors, asset owners and contractors from Australia, New Zealand and beyond. The 2019 edition took place in Melbourne from 24 to 27 November 2019. According to the ACA, it drew more than 600 attendees and 62 exhibitors, and more than 80 technical papers were received.
The conference is also a forum for surface preparation research. At C&P 2018, for example, Roman Dankiw and D. Fosdike presented the paper Defining Mechanical Surface Preparation Standards with Power Tools (Paper 74), which compared what grinders, flap discs and rotary bristle tools achieve against SSPC and ISO cleanliness grades.
The technology behind the interest
MontiPower® Australia supplies the Bristle Blaster®, MBX®, Tercoo® and Vinyl Zapper® ranges, with local training and support for sectors such as LNG, mining and pipelines.
- The Bristle Blaster® removes rust, coating and mill scale and creates an anchor profile in one step, without abrasive media. In documented tests it gives cleanliness comparable to ISO 8501-1 Sa 2½ / SSPC-SP 10 and a 65–85 µm Rz profile on standard steel; results vary with steel grade, rust grade, belt and technique.
- MBX® removes rust, paint, underseal and sealants from vehicle body panels without heat or warping.
- Tercoo® tungsten-carbide pin discs strip paint, bitumen, epoxy and heavy rust before final preparation.
- Vinyl Zapper® removes decals, foils and adhesive residue while leaving the paint underneath undamaged.
Why it matters for coating specifiers and contractors
For many maintenance jobs — spot repairs, weld seams, pipelines and live plant — open abrasive blasting is impractical because of containment, permits or waste disposal. Grit-free surface preparation gives specifiers and contractors a hand-held way to clean and profile steel on site, and conferences such as C&P are where they can see the tools working, compare results and talk to the people who use them every day.
