Belt Selector
Step 1 of 3
Select Cleaning Standard
Select the surface cleanliness standard required by your specification. ISO 8501-1 (Sa / St), EN 1083-2 (Ma) and SSPC standards are all supported — they map to the same belt selection.
ISO 8501-1 — Sa (Abrasive Blast)
| Sa 1 | Light blast cleaning | SSPC-SP7 / NACE #4 |
| Sa 2 | Commercial blast | SSPC-SP6 / NACE #3 |
| Sa 2½ | Near white metal | SSPC-SP10 / NACE #2 |
| Sa 3 | White metal (100%) | SSPC-SP5 / NACE #1 |
EN 1083-2 — Ma (Mechanical) & ISO 8501-1 — St (Hand/Power Tool)
| Ma 1 | Light bristle blasting | ≈ SSPC-SP11 light |
| Ma 2 | Commercial mechanical | ≈ SSPC-SP11 |
| Ma 2½ | Near white mechanical | SSPC-SP11 + profile |
| Ma 3 | White metal mechanical | SSPC-SP11 high profile |
| St 2 | Hand tool clean | SSPC-SP2 |
| St 3 | Power tool clean | SSPC-SP3 |
SSPC Standards
| SP5 | White Metal Blast | Sa 3 / NACE #1 |
| SP10 | Near White Blast | Sa 2½ / NACE #2 |
| SP6 | Commercial Blast | Sa 2 / NACE #3 |
| SP11 | Power Tool to Bare Metal + profile | Ma class |
| SP7 | Brush-Off Blast | Sa 1 |
| SP3 | Power Tool Clean | St 3 |
| SP2 | Hand Tool Clean | St 2 |
Profile Grades — EN 1083-2 / SSPC-SP11
| 1.5 mil | 38–50 µm anchor profile | Grade 1–2 |
| 2 mil | 50–75 µm anchor profile | Grade 2–3 |
| 3 mil | 75–100 µm anchor profile | Grade 3–4 |
| >4 mil | >100 µm anchor profile | Grade 4–5 |

Step 2 of 3
Select Substrate Material
Substrate determines the belt chemistry. Stainless steel requires dedicated stainless belts and a separate accelerator bar to prevent iron contamination.
Carbon Steel
Structural steel, pipelines, tanks, machinery
Stainless Steel
Food grade, marine grade, process equipment
Aluminium
Aerospace, automotive, non-ferrous structures
Sheet Metal
Thin gauge steel panels, automotive body
Concrete
Floors, walls, civil structures
Stainless Steel selected. You must use stainless-grade belts (blue label) and the dedicated
Stainless Accelerator Bar to prevent iron contamination. Never use a carbon steel bar on stainless work.
Step 3 of 3
Select Surface Profile Grade
Select the required anchor profile depth for your coating system. Coarser profiles improve mechanical adhesion for heavy-duty coatings.
EN 1083-2 · SSPC-SP11 — Profile grades defined in EN 1083-2 and measured by surface roughness comparator or gauge (Ra/Rz).
Grades shown in µm (EN 1083-2) and mil equivalents (SSPC-SP11).
